Breeds Prone to Bloat

Gastric dilatation-volvulus (GDV), commonly known as bloat, is a life-threatening emergency where the stomach fills with gas and rotates on itself. It primarily affects deep-chested large and giant breed dogs and can be fatal within hours without emergency surgery.

Symptoms

Distended abdomen, unproductive retching or dry heaving, restlessness, excessive drooling, pacing, rapid breathing, weakness, and collapse. This is a medical emergency requiring immediate veterinary attention.

Prevention & Management
